Finished Product! :)

The kitchen is finished..........well for the most part.

Before I show everyone the finished product I thought I would reminisce about the way it used to be...
There you have it, an awkwardly placed sink surrounded by ugly-colored cabinets. Not to mention oodles of space that was left empty where a huge freezer once was.

After months and months of tearing out cabinets and filling in the empty areas, holes in the floor, tiling the counter tops and floor, tons and tons and TONS of white paint, and a little T.L.C. we now have .............................

THIS!

We still have a little trim to put up around the top and bottom and I think 1 drawer that still needs a handle.. other than that, you probably wont find me remodeling another kitchen anytime in the near future. We're done... and couldn't be happier with the finished product!!

Update!

It has been a while since I have blogged, so here is an update on our lives:

  • Almost finished with the kitchen! Everything is finished except for the floors. Yep, I still have that hole in the floor, but I'm not complaining because everything else looks absolutely amazing!

I am so happy with the countertops and cabinets!! Jordan did such a great job!
  • We went to the beach in late June, a little scared that the oil would ruin our fun in the ocean, WRONG! The beach was beautiful!
We did see tar balls wash up one day. After about 3 hours they were gone and the water was clear again. These guys cleaned up the beach and we never saw tar balls again! :)
  • In case you were wondering, Wall-E is doing just fine! Aside from trying to escape from his crate when we are gone so he can show us just how angry he is with our leaving by destroying the house, he's been good! haha!
  •  Wedding Bells! All of my friends are getting married! Next up, Lindsay Smith! In exactly one month, she will be Lindsay Hamilton! Wow! All I have to say is Caleb is one lucky guy! Lindsay and I have been friends since the 10th grade. I wish nothing but the best for her and Caleb! Here is a picture of us at my wedding:

Other friends getting married in the near future (in time order):

Bretteni-November 2010- Brett is such a sweet girl who deserves a fairy tale ending! We cheered together and were the best of friends in high school!  I am so excited to see her happy! Here is a picture of us in high school, doing what we did best, acting stupid! haha:

Scarlett- May 2011- Scarlett and Zach have been together since high school and have had such a sweet relationship! Everyone is so excited to see these high school sweethearts get married and live happily ever after! Scarlett and I were friends in high school and roommates throughout college. Here is a picture of us our first year as roommates (we look so young):

I love all of you guys so much! I pray God's blessings on your marriages and for stress-free planning! Can't wait for the weddings!

That is pretty much everything that has been happening in our lives these days. No job for me just yet, but God has something in store for me!
Keep Praying! :)

I have no stove and no sink!!!?!

You read the title correctly..and that is because I really don't have a sink or a stove for the time being. Can you believe that is a GOOD thing?! That means that Jordan has finally begun the process of tiling our counter tops!!

I went to a Beth Moore Conference: So Long Insecurities (wonderful experience, by the way), and came home to a lot of progress made in the kitchen. Jordan and his dad got all of the bottom cabinets put into place, and put down the wood that will be the basis for our counter tops! I couldn't have been happier (unless the entire kitchen had been finished). Seriously though, I'm so excited and ready to see what the final product is going to look like!
See the gigantic whole in our kitchen floor where the sink once was?

Now all we have to do is put all of the wall cabinets into place, finish painting, tile the counter tops and choose new flooring..hmm..I wonder how long it will take us to do that?

Look at our gorgeous granite that will one day SOON be our counter tops!!  It has various shades of brown and gray, with a few specks of blue! :) I love it!

Seriously though, I'm ready to have my stove and sink back. I'm getting tired of all baked dinners and relying on the dishwasher alone to clean my dishes...

The kitchen adventure has begun..

We have begun renovating our kitchen, FINALLY. Well, actually it was about a month ago when we started, I just never posted it. We are oh so excited (especially me) to have a newly renovated kitchen to cook in!

Here are the BEFORE pictures of our kitchen:

We have taken out the ugly lighting, and moved the sink that was so randomly placed in the middle of the kitchen floor. Oh, and we have painted the walls brown.

That is Jordan tearing down cabinets all by himself (we are trying to do this entire project by ourselves). Low and behold behind some shelving was MORE WALLPAPER! Seriously lady (who lived here before us), why?

We will make it through this!

Our cabinets are being painted white!!

I am going to leave you with a paint sketch that Jordan made on our computer of what the finished product should look like (roughly).

We wish you a Merry Christmas...

Merry Christmas from the Greers! We are all moved into our new house and have just begun decorating for Christmas! This is mine and Jordan's favorite time of the year, so we wanted to go all out (I'm telling you, my husband aspires to be Clark Griswold). Too bad we are just married, I'm still in school, we only have one income and 15 days left until Christmas or we would go all out! We did what we could!

It is now time to reveal the AFTER pictures of our house!!
 Like the black shutters?
I got all crafty and made our wreath all by myself!

Decorating our first tree!

Wall-E's first reaction to the tree was to pee on it..that was great..

Remember that pink carpet? You do? Oh, I don't. I blocked it out of mind.

Master bath! We love our vessel sinks!

Right when you walk in the front door.

Jordan said we had to include a picture of the lighting.

We kept the fireplace the same, but got rid of that ugly wallpaper. Our mantel is decorated for Christmas with a stocking for Jordan, one for me, and of course (until we have children) one for Wall-E.

One day we will start renovating the kitchen, we promise! :)

Extreme Makeover: Greer Home Edition

Don't you just love that show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Everytime I watch it, it leaves tears in my eyes. I am always in awe of what the team can complete in 7 days, and it warms my heart to see some very derserving people recieve such a wonderful gift after many years of trial and hardship.Well, we did a little home makeover ourselves and it left tears in my eyes as well. Not the same kind as the show gives me, but more of the "ARE WE EVER GOING TO BE FINISHED?!" kind. Don't let me fool you.. it hasn't been that bad.. It has actually been kind of fun. You know.. the whole "getting married and starting a family together" butterflies are great. I also love being able to take a house that is like a blank canvas and create our dream home (well, sort of).We are on a budget. Thankfully, Jordan's parents have had their share of home renovation and are willing to help us out. We are doing every bit of this ourselves. Pray for us!!

Just to give everyone a little sneak peek into what were doing..I'll post some BEFORE pictures for you!

Here is the outside of our home. I will tell you our big plan here: painting the shutters black! Okay, well its not that big of a plan, but we think it'll make the house look more "modern". Our long term plans are to fix the landscaping. Jordan has the ideas about that one, he's Mr. creative, not me.
Master bathroom: Look at that gorgeous pink marble sink, only to be an accent to that black wallpaper covered in multicolored peacocks! Wait until you see what we are going to do with this!
Living Room: Don't you just LOVE our cement brick WALLPAPER?! This room is leading into our guest bedroom.

Master Bedroom: I'm not entirely sure, but something gives me the impression that the little old lady who lived here before us had an obsession with the color pink, what do you think?

Those are a few of the BEFORE pictures. We are going to do the master bedroom, bathroom and living room first. Then after we move in, we will work our way throughout the house.

I'll leave you with a picture that will scare you. I know it will scare you only because it scares me.

Yep, what you see is destruction. But Jordan promises me that it will one day be our bedroom leading into our walk in closet. And yes, there is a toilet in my closet. I am told that it will be removed shortly. :)
