Our Home

Our First Home.
So important to us it inspired the name of our blog.
The Little Yellow House.
We thought it deserved it's own section.
Here you can see the renovation process unfold before your eyes (instead of going back through my blog archives and searching).

We bought our 24 year old home back in September 2009, just two months before our wedding.
With just one owner before us, it was in great (structural) shape, but cosmetically needed a little help.

 Floorplan before:

Floorplan After:

Here's a room by room before&after and a few details of what was done.

{Master Bedroom}
All you can see here is that we put in hardwood flooring and paint. We actually expanded the room and added a large walk-in closet. You can see some the mid-renovation progress here

{Master Bath}
We got rid of that ugly, dark, peacock wallpaper only to find more wallpaper. After removing two layers, we painted the walls a light beige. We painted the vanity a dark mahogany color, tiled the counter top with granite and put in vessel sinks and faucets. We also laid ceramic tile flooring.

 {Living Room}
That gray brick is more wallpaper that we had to remove. The only other thing we had to do in here is paint the trim and the walls. We chose a light blue color to go with our brown accents.

{Extraroom (Jordan's Xbox room/mancave)}
We removed wallpaper and painted! That's it! :)

Yes, that is an old school Nintendo. It was replaced with an Xbox this Christmas.

This one took us forever.
I'm not even going to begin describing everything we did.
You can read about it here, here, here & here.

  2. Nice. It’s impressive that you and your husband immediately embarked on the construction project of your home after the wedding. That’s a wonderful way to start living as a happily married couple, Amanda. I love the gradual progress of your home project. Every area is looking great after the renovations. :D Congratulations, and I hope all your exciting accomplishments continue.
